The CREATE Study, Community Derived Automated Insulin Delivery, has now been completed and published in the New England Journal of Medicine.

The study evaluated the safety and efficacy of an open-source automated insulin delivery system in children and adults with type 1 diabetes. The algorithm and app interface tested were based on AndroidAPS, an implementation of the OpenAPS algorithm.

The results showed that participants using the open-source automated insulin delivery system spent significantly more time in the target glucose range than those using sensor-augmented pump therapy.
